Grand Master Jin W. Kim, a 8th Degree Black Belt was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. He started his Martial Arts training at the young age of 6 years old, under the instruction of his father, who was an expert Martial Arts, and he has continued to practice and teach for over 40 years. He is internationally known and respected as an excellent technician, a talented teacher and deep philosopher. He received the award of “Developmental Coach of the Year 2000” by the U. S. Olympic Committee. The Korean government chose him to teach the R.O.K. Navy, hand to hand combat instruction for three years. In 1974, he came to the United States and opened his own school – Kim’s TaeKwonDo in Houston, Texas and has since relocated to Simpsonville and Upstate South Carolina... He has great ambitions of teaching the American people the True Traditional Martial Arts. Master Kim still strives for constant improvement in himself and his students. He seeks to make TaeKwonDo a priceless investment in life for everyone. Master Kim’s penetrating eyes reflect his fiery spirit. He lives to touch the hearts of big and little children through his incredible physical abilities and his sense of humor.
Master Sun Jin Won, a 6th degree Black Belt, was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. She started her Martial Arts training at the age of five, and has never stopped training and instructing.
She received a Masters Degree in Sports in 1999, majoring in physical education (TaeKwonDo) from Kyung Hee University in Korea.
Master Won was a two-time world champion, two-time Asian champion, and a National champion six times, to name a few of her numerous accomplishments.
She feels she was blessed to have been trained by the best instructors in the world, and she wants to give other people the same level of training, and provide the opportunity to learn the traditional Martial Arts.
Master Won is deeply interested in training and instructing people of all ages to build not only the physical strength, but to build self-confidence. Her personal motto is I try to build champions for daily life. She is particularly passionate about teaching and working with children. She takes personal pride in watching children become self confident, and learn to respect others.
She and her husband, Grand Master Kim are extremely excited about their 4000 sqft Kim's TaeKwonDo facility at 656 Fairview Road in Simpsonville
which was newly opened on October 15, 2004
